OUR STORY

A modern-day mom-and-pop bringing the spirit of Southtown to your glass.

Our Vision

Rooted in the spirit of Southtown, our vision is to create a thoughtfully curated, boutique-style experience for our neighbors in King William, Lavaca, and downtown San Antonio. We aim to offer an inviting space where everyone—from casual sippers to seasoned enthusiasts—can discover something new and local.

Our shelves will feature a carefully selected mix of wines, craft beers, ready-to-drink options, and non-alcoholic beverages, alongside a handpicked collection of curated spirits that celebrate the craftsmanship and culture of the region. With community tastings, friendly service, and a relaxed neighborhood vibe, we hope to become the go-to spot for convenience, connection, and conversation—right here in the heart of Southtown.

About Us

Karina Cardona Alderete and Joe Alderete III are proud Southtown residents raising their two boys in the heart of San Antonio. They live, work, and play right here—walking to neighborhood spots, supporting local businesses, and sending their kids to Bonham Academy just down the street. Their lives are deeply woven into the fabric of this historic, creative community—diverse, welcoming, and full of character.

Joe has dedicated more than 20 years to serving the city as a firefighter—a career that’s shaped his commitment to teamwork, discipline, and public service. A proud graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Joe continues to invest in his city both professionally and personally. Beyond the firehouse, he manages the Tigres de San Antonio, a local Sandlot baseball team that celebrates neighborhood camaraderie and the joy of the game. He also serves as co-founder of Maverick Dog Park, a beloved community gathering space near the Pearl District. Joe is a proud graduate of Leadership San Antonio (LSA) Class 48, where he deepened his understanding of what it means to lead and give back within the community that inspires him every day.

Karina brings over two decades of experience in marketing and communications, helping organizations tell their stories and connect with people in meaningful ways. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and George Washington University, she combines strategic insight with a heart for service. Her civic involvement runs deep—she has served on numerous local boards throughout San Antonio, including the King William Cultural Arts Committee, always advocating for collaboration, inclusion, and community growth. A proud alumna of Leadership San Antonio Class 42 and Leadership Lab, Karina also made history as the first Latina Chair of the American Red Cross Board—a testament to her leadership rooted in compassion and connection. Her dedication reflects the spirit of Southtown—strong, creative, and community-driven.

Together, Karina and Joe are taking a leap of faith to pursue a lifelong dream: opening a neighborhood-friendly wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage shop right in the heart of Southtown. After years of working with other local businesses and neighbors to understand what the community truly needs, they’re creating a space that feels approachable, authentic, and distinctly San Antonio.

The road to small business ownership hasn’t been easy, but for the Alderetes, it’s about more than opening a shop. It’s about showing their boys that dreams take perseverance, discipline, and faith—and that the best things in life are built together, one day at a time. With a blend of heart, hustle, and neighborhood pride, they’re bringing to life a modern-day mom-and-pop shop—one that celebrates family, community, and the vibrant soul of Southtown.
